Switch 2 Receives Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition

Paradox Interactive has announced Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition, a new version that introduces improved visuals, performance, expanded building tools and more for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Performance Modes and UI Improvements

Optimised for the handheld console itself, the Expanded Edition aims to deliver a fluid experience, offering additional UI improvements such as precision placement, distance indicator and updated snapping. To go alongside this, there is also a new quick selection tool, as well as the ability to switch between a Performance Option for 60FPS with upscaling or a Quality Option for 30FPS.

Additional DLC Packs and Pricing

The city tile limit has been increased from 9 to 25 buildable tiles and the map editor has made its way back over, allowing players to create and customise their own landscapes and maps. Other than the above, this new edition also includes 10 additional pieces of DLC content, including:

  • After Dark, Snowfall, Green Cities and Sunset Harbor as Expansions.
  • Map Pack 3, Country Road, Pearls from the East, Deep Focus Radio, Carols Candles & Candy and Match Day as Content Packs.

Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition is due to launch on October 28th for Switch 2. Whilst the recommended price is £41.49, owners of the original Cities: Skylines will be able to claim a 70% off discount, valid until April 28th, 2027.
